Random Wednesday

It's mid-week check in and boy do I have a lot to share!

First of all my Women's Learn to Run program was great. There are only four of us so we were able to hit the trail early and finish early. Also, we were only out for 18 minutes! (Isn't that great?) I was worried we would be out for about 30 minutes or more. Whew, what a relief!

Sunday was the day after we got socked with a snow storm and it was soooo cold!. There was no way I was going running in -29 with the wind chill on ungroomed trails. I opted to do my training time at the gym. Then I went to the Health & Fitness Show. They didn't have the physical testing set up the way I had imagined. Kind of disappointing, however, I was able to get a demonstration from a yoga company and realized I was doing "Upward facing Dog" all wrong. (Who knew?) I also joined the Calgary Herald at home fitness challenge. I had to be weighed and measured and discovered that I have lost 2 lbs since my birthday! Yay!

Upward Facing Dog

The great thing about these shows are the trial memberships, percentages off classes, and free classes you can pick up. Well worth the $10 to get in. The Calgary Health, Fitness, and Sport Expo is this Saturday. It looks pretty good from the website and Paul Plakas from the TV Show X-Weighted will be there.

Downward Facing Dog

Monday I made it to yoga class and practiced my new technique. I think I am getting stronger but I still have trouble holding onto "Downward Facing Dog". Earlier that day I put on one of my maternity tops that hid my post baby belly quite well. NOW it's hanging, not holding onto my belly at all! (Whoo Hooo!) The down side of this weight loss is that I chose the wrong yoga pants that night. After class I went grocery shopping and had to hold my pants up the entire time. (Note to self, buy yoga pants with drawstrings!)

Golden Winter Soup

The cold weather is persisting and bringing out an urge to make soup. Here is the recipe for the one I made yesterday. Yum! Tonight is another training run and I am going to brave the elements. Have a great night!
